It always cheers us up when March is approaching… the first signs of spring are on their way. Bulbs are starting to grow; the mornings are not so dark and the temperatures are starting to warm.
Whilst we enjoy being out in our own garden, there’s nothing quite like taking in the spectacular views in a well-designed feature garden.
East Ruston Gardens
One of our favourite gardens is the East Ruston Vicarage Garden. No matter what your planting tastes are, you’ll find a corner that you admire and wish to recreate. Our favourite is the desert inspired garden with the vibrant colours and wide range of textures. We are also fond of the café in the grounds – sit back, relax in the sun and enjoy piece of homemade cake with a tea/coffee.
East Ruston Gardens will open on 07 March 2020.

Fairhaven Gardens is a quiet wooded landscape on the edge of a private Norfolk Broad. If you want to go enjoy a wooded walk with the only sound being the birds and the crunch of twigs underfoot, then this is the place to visit. There are nearly 4 miles of wooded walkways, ideal for encouraging and inspiring children to take in their surroundings and engage with nature (and bring out the inner child in yourself). You will often find artists painting at the clearing by the Broad. There is a small wooden tour boat that you can take if you’d like to explore the Broad further.
There is a lovely café at the entrance offering refreshments and cake. We have sampled the breakfasts on many an occasion and highly recommend.
Fairhaven Gardens open at the beginning of March.

‘The Secret Garden’ nestled with in the hustle and bustle of the city centre. This garden was the creation of a local man, Henry Trevor (1819-1897), a successful and prosperous upholsterer and cabinet maker and is now one of the finest surviving Victorian gardens in England.
Set in almost three acres with features and terraces that are reminiscent of those to be found in the gardens of Renaissance Italy.
Planation Gardens are open every day of the year, the garden is administered by the Plantation Garden Preservation Trust and maintained by a dedicated team of volunteers. In the summer months afternoon teas are served on Sundays, and the garden hosts occasional evenings of outdoor cinema screenings.
